A classic cocktail which appeared in Harry Craddock's 1930 The Savoy Cocktail Book.

Elk

 30 ml (1 oz) London dry Gin
 30 ml (1 oz) plum brandy
 15 ml (½ oz) dry vermouth

Half-fill a cocktail shaker with ice.

Add all ingredients and shake until well-chilled.
