A Manhattan variant, which uses rye whiskey, maraschino liqueur and Punt e Mes, an Italian vermouth whose name translates to “point and a half,” referring to the bottle containing one point of sweetness and one point of bitterness.

Red Hook

 60 ml rye whiskey
 15 ml maraschino cherry liqueur
 15 ml Punt e Mes
 Maraschino cherry for garnish

Half-fill a mixing jug with ice.

Add the rye whiskey, maraschino liqueur and Punt e Mes and stir until well chilled.

Strain into a cocktail glass and garnish with a maraschino cherry.
