Adapted from the Bobby Burns cocktail recipe from Henry Craddock's The Savoy Cocktail Book, published in the 1930s.

 45 ml blended Scotch whisky
 45 ml sweet vermouth
 22.50 ml Benedictine D.O.M.

Add ice to a mixing jug.

Add all ingredients and stir until well-chilled.

Strain into a chilled Nick and Nora or coupe glass.

Garnish with a finger of shortbread.

Despite, most likely, being named for a cigar salesman called Bobby Burns, it is a popular cocktail for the Scots when raising a glass to famous Scottish poet Robert Burns on his birthday (25th January).
