The Rum Runner was first concocted in 1972 by John Ebert at the Tiki Bar of the Holiday Isle Resort, on the island of Islamorada in the Florida Keys.
30 ml white rum
30 ml dark rum
30 ml banana liqueur
30 ml blackberry liqueur
30 ml pineapple juice
Splash of grenadine

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.

Pour all ingredients into the shaker and shake until well chilled.

Strain into a tall glass, like a highball or hurricane glass, over fresh ice.

This is a very flexible cocktail; as pineapple doesn’t agree with me, I’ll use a mango juice instead. You can also use any rums you like; instead of white and dark, I’ve used golden and navy rums instead to good effect.
