#PlatinumJubilee Drinks on #FridayNightCocktails, 3rd June

***

Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee is coming up on the 3rd June which is Friday next week. Instead of the usual three cocktails for Friday Night Cocktails, we’ll be doing some cocktails throughout the day (it’s a Bank Holiday here in the UK) for the Platinum Jubilee.

Queen Elizabeth II is celebrating her Platinum Jubilee, for 75 years as Queen, which makes her the longest-reigning incumbent monarch, and the longest-reigning female monarch in recorded history; she is currently the third longest serving monarch (of a sovereign state) behind Louis XIV of France (1643 to 1715) and Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) of Thailand (1946 to 2016).

Blood and Sand

2nd #cocktail of #FridayNightCocktails on the 13th May: Blood and Sand

***

The Blood and Sand is one of the few classic cocktails to use whisky; in this case a blended Scotch. It was named after Rudolph Valentino‘s 1922 bullfighter movie Blood and Sand.

I’ve been a large whisk(e)y drinker for the last 15 years. I’ve always had it neat until fairly recently. f the ways to mix it, this cocktail is a fantastic whiskey based one. It also makes my list of favourite cocktails.
