A powerful cocktail which can see out Guy Fawkes Night with a bang.

Ingredients

60 ml bourbon
30 ml vodka
30 ml freshly squeezed orange juice
15 ml freshly squeezed lemon juice
15 ml simple syrup
Orange wheel for garnish

Directions

Half fill a cocktail shaker with ice.

Add all liquid ingredients to the shaker and shake until well-chilled.

Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with an orange wheel.

Hunter Cocktail

A cocktail of unknown origin, but was popularised by Ueno recommending it at his High Five bar in Ginzo, Tokyo, Japan.

Ingredients

75 ml bourbon
15 ml cherry brandy
5 ml maraschino liqueur
4 drops orange bitters
Maraschino cherry

Directions

Place ice in a mixing jug.

Add all liquid ingredients and stir until combined.

Strain into a cocktail glass and garnish with a maraschino cherry.

Boulevardier

The Boulevardier is a variation of the classic Negroni which swaps out the dry gin for a little more bourbon or rye whiskey.

Ingredients

45 ml bourbon or rye whiskey
30 ml Campari
30 ml sweet vermouth
Orange twist for garnish

Directions

Add ice to a mixing jug.

Add liquid ingredients and stir until well-chilled.

Strain into a tumbler over fresh ice.

Garnish with an orange twist.

Banoffee Cream Buffalo

A dessert martini very loosely derived from the Banoffee Buffalo cocktail at The LiquorLab in Telford, England.

Ingredients

50 ml Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight bourbon
25 ml banana liqueur
25 ml chocolate liqueur
15 ml caramel syrup
25 ml double cream
Extra double cream for floating
Grated dark chocolate for garnish

Directions

Half fill a cocktail shaker with ice.

Add all ingredients and shake until well chilled.

Strain into a cocktail glass.

Gently pour the extra double cream over the back of a barspoon to float on top of the liquid.

Sprinkle over a little grated dark chocolate.

Old Fashioned

The old fashioned is a cocktail made by muddling sugar with bitters and water, adding bourbon, and garnishing with orange twist or zest and a cocktail cherry. Developed during the 19th century and given its name in the 1880s, it is an IBA Official Cocktail.

Ingredients

45 ml bourbon (or Scotch whisky)
2 dashes aromatic bitters
1 sugar cube
1 tsp water
1 orange wheel
1 maraschino cherry

Directions

Place a sugar cube in a tumbler and saturate with the aromatic bitters.

Add a few dashes of plain water and muddle until the sugar is dissolved.

Fill the glass with ice.

Pour in the bourbon and stir gently.

Garnish with the orange wheel and maraschino cherry.
