This cocktail is based on Hugo Ensslin's 1916 Aviation recipe, merely omitting the Maraschino.
45 ml dry gin
7.50 ml creme de violette
15 ml freshly squeezed lemon juice
Maraschino cherry

Add ice to a cocktail shaker.

Add all liquid ingredients to the shaker and shake until well chilled.

Strain into a cocktail glass.
