3rd #cocktail of #FridayNightCocktails on 15th December: B&B

Our third and final cocktail is the B&B. The B&B cocktail dates back to Prohibition in the US; a simple combination of Benedictine DOM and Brandy (a good brandy is very strongly recommended), traditionally served with the brandy floating on the Benedictine.

I found this surprisingly good; it really does benefit from using a good quality brandy.

Some prefer to mix instead of floating the brandy or serve over ice in a rocks glass.

In the USA, premixed B&B outsells Benedictine D.O.M.

On a crisp early winter night, the scent of nostalgia and camaraderie lingered in the air as Sarah prepared to host an intimate gathering of friends. Determined to infuse the evening with a touch of warmth and sophistication, she embarked on a journey to craft the perfect libation—the B&B cocktail. In the heart of her cozy living room, the stage was set for an evening of laughter, shared stories, and the subtle alchemy of brandy and Benedictine DOM.

Sarah, an aficionado of the finer things in life, meticulously selected a good quality brandy as the backbone of her concoction. Its amber hue hinted at the aged elegance within, promising a journey of rich, nuanced flavors. Benedictine DOM, with its secret blend of 27 herbs and spices, would be the perfect dance partner, adding a layer of complexity to the libation.

As her friends arrived, their laughter and warmth filled the room, creating an atmosphere that mirrored the hearth's glow. The clinking of glasses and the crackling of the fireplace set the stage for an evening of shared moments and sensory delights.

In the midst of animated conversations, Sarah took center stage, a spirited maestro armed with a shaker and a selection of spirits that promised to elevate the evening. With a measured pour, she combined the brandy and Benedictine DOM, the liquids intertwining like old friends reunited. The aroma that wafted through the air hinted at the symphony of flavors that awaited.

For a touch of theatricality, Sarah warmed the brandy glasses, creating a vessel that would cradle the B&B cocktail with the utmost care. The glasses, now imbued with a gentle heat, awaited the elixir that would fill the room with the essence of winter comfort.

As Sarah poured the amber liquid into each warmed glass, the friends gathered around, their senses heightened in anticipation. The B&B cocktail, with its rich hue and the promise of warmth, was a beacon of indulgence in the midst of the winter night. The fragrant vapors rose, carrying with them the soulful embrace of brandy and the herbal whispers of Benedictine DOM.

With a subtle flourish, Sarah handed each friend a glass, the warmth emanating from the vessel a tactile invitation to savor the moment. The first sip was a revelation—a harmonious blend of the brandy's velvety smoothness and the Benedictine DOM's herbal symphony. The cocktail, much like the evening, unfolded in layers, each one adding to the richness of the experience.

Seated in the glow of the firelight, the friends savored the B&B cocktail, their conversations taking on a mellower, more contemplative tone. The libation became a catalyst for shared reflections and cherished memories, as the winter night unfolded outside, forgotten in the warmth of friendship.

As the evening progressed, Sarah's living room transformed into a sanctuary of conviviality, the B&B cocktail a constant companion to the laughter and camaraderie that filled the space. The good quality brandy and Benedictine DOM had worked their magic, turning a cold winter night into an unforgettable tapestry of shared moments.

As the final sips were savored and the last embers of the fireplace glowed, the friends exchanged grateful glances. The B&B cocktail, with its nuanced elegance, had become more than a drink; it was the elixir of connection, a vessel that carried them through the winter night and left them with a warmth that lingered long after the glasses were empty.
