Our second drink of St Patrick’s Day on the 17th March is the Emerald Isle. We’re using the less common version which uses Green Chartreuse instead of green creme de menthe as this gives a more subtle yet very flavourful cocktail.
A simple Emerald Ireland cocktail using Green Chartreuse.
50 ml dry gin
25 ml Green Chartreuse
2 dashes orange bitters
1
Add ice to a mixing glass.
2
Add all ingredients and stir thoroughly and until well chilled.
3
Strain into a cocktail glass.
Most versions of the Emerald Isle use green creme de menthe, but this Green Chartreuse version is flavourful without the overbearing mint taste of creme de menthe.

The mint version of this replaces the Green Chartreuse with half the amount of green creme de menthe.
I prefer this version to the mint one which is why we’ve used this recipe.
